NBA Best Bets Wednesday 11/2

H/T USA Today Sports for the photo.

New Orleans Pelicans -3 (-110) - 1.5 Units

The Pelicans travel to Los Angeles tonight to take on the Lakers who are very excited to be coming off of their first win of the season. It’s been an embarrassing turn of events for the Lakers as the Pelicans, who gathered a plethora of assets for Anthony Davis, look to slowly but surely come on top following the trade that shook the NBA several years back. Now they face off with the Pelicans holding a very valuable 2023 Lakers first round pick on top of a roster that is 2 to 3 times more talented and deep than the Lakers.

LeBron and Anthony Davis will get their stats tonight and fill up the box score. But as we have seen time and time again with the Lakers, who else will step up? The shooting has been horrendous, and the defending has been nonexistent. Westbrook and Beverly are being run as wings while the Lakers try to figure out how to make shots in a league where every team has at least two guys who can hit a three.

I do not believe the Pelicans will have any issues even in the absence of Brandon Ingram. Zion and Valanciunas should dominate the inside, as Davis will have his full trying to cover one or the other. Herb Jones will get some great experience disrupting a garbage Lakers perimeter, and guys like CJ McCollum & Trey Murphy should have their way behind the arc and creating shots.

This is not a trap line. It is just a fluke. Don’t overthink it guys, and back then Pelicans here.

San Antonio Spurs TT under 108.5

(EVEN) - 1 Unit

News came out around lunch time today that Keldon Johnson will not play tonight and will be joining his injured costar Devin Vassell on the bench. Tre Jones and Jakob Poeltl will be expected to pick up the slack alongside Josh Richardson, but there is no way that this will be nearly enough. The Spurs will be featuring many young players tonight that will see the most usage they have ever had in their young careers, which I don’t think fares well for scoring.

The Raptors lengthy defenders should be able to keep the young guys at bay from San Antonio, as this will be uncharted territory for many. Toronto rank just outside of the Top 10 in defensive efficiency, and have allowed a 4th lowest 106.6 points per game. San Antonio have pushed the pace this year with a Top 10 ranking 106.7 possessions per game, but Toronto will have no problem slowing them down as they are averaging the second lowest possessions per game this season at 99.1.

I may tweet out some props for this game, so be on the lookout as there could be some opportunities for Spurs players picking up the slack or Raptors players terrorizing this young team. Give me the Spurs to go under here.

Davion Mitchell over 15.5 Points (EVEN) - 0.75 Units

De'Aaron Fox is out which points to all signs as a go for your Davion Mitchell props. Davion Mitchell averaged 17.7 points per game last season when De'Aaron Fox sat out, and racked up 24 following the knee injury on Monday. This average is even higher when you take out his first couple of low minute games without Fox first starting out, but with the Kings no longer having any other point guards compared to last year when they had Haliburton before the deadline, I really like the idea of Mitchell going over here with the ball in his hands a lot tonight.

The Heat have not been off to a great start, and Jimmy Butler is out tonight which takes a toll on the Heat Culture defense. I am not confident enough to bet on the Kings outright, and will cheer for them for our season total over prop, but give me Davion here to have a solid night filling in for Fox.
