Boston Celtics 1H Team Total o60.5 (-120) - 1 Unit
The Celtics in the first half have become a bet that I have started to look for throughout this young NBA season, and it can definitely be seen in some of my writing the last two weeks. The Celtics have been an absolute machine in the first half, averaging 62.7 points per game which leads the NBA by over 1.5 points from second place. The boys in green also lead the league in offensive efficiency at 1.164, which is a good step ahead of the rest of the top five.
Boston travels to Chicago on Monday night, and the opposition does not leave a lot of angles to say that things will go one way or the other as their defensive efficiency and possessions per game are in the middle of the pack. However, one interesting thing to note is that the Bulls are in the bottom 25% of the NBA in first-half points allowed, allowing 58.8 in the first half this season and 62.0 in their previous three. Give me the high-octane offense that has taken the next step this season in Jayson Tatum and the Celtics who continue to show they are the real deal even with new head coach Joe Mazzulla at the helm.
Utah Jazz Moneyline (+130) - 1 Unit
The Utah Jazz travel to Los Angeles tonight to face the Clippers who will be without Paul George. Kawhi Leonard and John Wall who are usually frequent guests of the Injury Report will be active tonight in this contest, but have both been non-factors so far this season. The Jazz however have been one of the most surprising stories in the league coming out to a 12-6 start which puts them in the Top 3 for Win Percentage across the league.
I believe that despite not having Mike Conley, this Jazz team should be able to snag the win the LA tonight. Paul George being inactive is a massive hit for a Clippers team that is desperate for scoring, averaging 105.2 points per game which is dead last in the league and more than 3 points per game less than the other bottom 5 teams. Their offensive efficiency is second to last as well. A large part of this story for the Clippers is attributed to their high level defense, with a defensive efficiency of 1.042 which is second-best in the NBA on top of a slow pace game (bottom 5 in possessions per game), but I do not think it will matter tonight.
When you lose 23.6 points per game from Paul George along with his rebounding, creation on offense, and defensive prowess, you have a massive gap to fill. Kawhi and Wall won't pick up the slack, so who else will? Give me the hot hand in the Jazz here to keep things rolling with Lauri Markkanen potentially having a big night in Los Angeles.
