NBA Best Bets 11/23

As many of you return home or welcome in family and friends, the common ground between sports fans of all sports and teams has become sports betting. The NBA is here to help with that tonight, offering us 12 different games to pick and choose from at our leisure. I am here to fill everyone in on the plays you absolutely cannot miss out on tonight in the professional basketball world, and hopefully make you and your friends some money on the infamous Wednesday night back home. Your hometown watering hole will be poppin' off with reunions left and right while your wallet will be making CHA-CHING noises all night. Let's fill up that bankroll in preparation for the three Thanksgiving football games tomorrow!

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander o29.5 Points (-105) - 1 Unit

Shai has been one of the biggest names in the NBA this season with an incredible start to the Thunder's campaign. SGA is averaging 31.1 points per game this season and has passed this mark of 29.5 points 12 times in 17 contests. Tonight, he will take on a Denver Nuggets team that is coming off of a back-to-back against a depleted Detroit team that still snuck out a win.

I detailed it yesterday in my Jaden Ivey play and I will talk about it here again. The Nuggets are one of the worst defensive units in the league, with a bottom 5 defensive efficiency of 1.113, and a bottom 5 opponent true shooting percentage of 116.9%. If you are not familiar with the stats I normally run through, these are both interesting stats that should prove favorable for Shai tonight as he leads the OKC offense.

I believe the Nuggets will be tired coming off of a back-to-back with Jokic and Murray also recovering from COVID, and their defensive deficiencies will be exposed. Even a stout defensive unit in the Celtics were having to double-team Shai which is one of the ultimate forms of respect, and I don't see the Nuggets being able to contain him tonight. Give me the next-up NBA superstar to continue his impressive run of 30-point games on a team that really doesn't have any other sources of volume scoring.

Tobias Harris o31.5 Points/Rebounds/Assists (-114) - 1 Unit

Tobias Harris and the very banged-up 76ers travel to Charlotte tonight coming off of a surprise win over the Brooklyn Nets in Philly last night. The Hornets will be without LaMelo Ball, but the injury report is nothing in comparison to the Sixers missing their Big 3 of Embiid, Maxey, and Harden. However, before Maxey and Harden came onto the scene, Tobias Harris was a large part of this Philadelphia offense, and he will look to fill that role once again as the main source of scoring for the Sixers tonight.

The Hornets have not been great defensively this season despite bringing in Steve Clifford for a second stint as head coach in Charlotte in order to improve this young roster's defense. The Hornets are in the bottom half of the league in defensive efficiency and bottom ten in opponent points per game as well as points in the paint per game. The Sixers will be depending on backups across the board, with Shake Milton, De'Anthony Melton, and cult hero Paul Reed leading the charge behind Tobias Harris.

This is not as much of a fade as the Hornets' defense and a matchup bet as it is trusting Tobias Harris to have a big game while his three teammates who soak up the usage are out. I know that he tweaked his ankle last night, but if the Sixers want to stay afloat while their star players are out they will need to win games against the bad teams in the league. With the Hornets off to a terrible third-to-last-place start and a 4-14 record, here is your opportunity to pick up a game while the stars of the franchise are out, Philly!

Timberwolves -1.5 (-106) @ Pacers - 1 Unit

I do not have as many numbers behind this one as I do for a usual play, but the logic behind it is a lot simpler than that. Everyone and their mother are betting on the Pacers to continue their surprising start (10-6 so far to start the season) against an absolutely loaded Timberwolves who cannot seem to find their footing. This team is led by Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns, with Rudy Gobert and D'Angelo Russell to top things off. These guys will put it together, and playing the Pacers presents an opportunity to get things back on the right foot.

Indy are the best team at not allowing scoring in the paint this season, and are second best behind Brooklyn in opponent points from 2-pointers. However, when you look at who the Pacers have gone up against this season in regards to big men, there really has not been any notable centers or power forwards besides Embiid, Jokic, and Adebayo. The other teams Indy has faced have not had anyone with any type of offensive prowess, which makes me feel like these numbers and Myles Turner's defensive acumen are being very inflated.

Let's see if Turner's defense is legit with Isaiah Jackson out tonight, and if the Pacers can contain the two big man tandem of KAT and Gobert with a T-Wolves bounceback game imminent.
