EPL Week 9 Picks

The Premier League is finally back on level terms after a span of weeks off following the Queen’s death and the international break. Matchweek 9 sets up to be a great slate and there are plenty of quality matches to look into. Let's get started:

Crystal Palace-Chelsea 10:00am ET, Saturday

One of the most intriguing matches of the weekend resides at Selhurst Park in this London Derby. Palace comes in reeling a bit off one of the toughest stretches any club will face to start a season while newly appointed Chelsea manager, Graham Potter, must right the ship after a sputtering start for the Blues. Crystal Palace is a stalwart at home and that should continue tomorrow. Their losses at Selhurst Park to a top 6 opponent are few and far between (3 in the past 2 seasons) and I expect them to at least keep this one within a goal and I don’t mind a DNB (Draw no bet) wager on Palace. To play it safe, let’s take Palace +.75 (-125).

Fulham-Newcastle 10:00am ET, Saturday

Newcastle and Fulham come into this one off some middling results. You certainly can’t say either club hasn’t gone for it to start the season as both are near the top in xGa and xG in the league. Both have quality up top in Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson returning for Newcastle and Aleksander Mitrovic banging in goals for Fulham. This one feels simple, the total sitting at 2.5 seems a bit too low so I will be rolling with O2.5 goals.

West Ham-Wolves 12:30pm ET, Saturday

A breather for both struggling clubs was probably for the best as these two meet at the Olympic Stadium for the Saturday night standalone match. West Ham have certainly taken their lumps early on in the campaign and David Moyes is under a bit of fire but this sets up as a really good opportunity for a bounce back. Wolves have struggled to put the ball in the back of the net and despite the problems West Ham have, they’ve been stout in the back. West Ham will be on the front foot most of this one, especially at home. I fancy them to at least snag one goal to get all 3 points. Let’s ride with West Ham to win -105. Also wouldn’t mind a wager on West Ham to win to nil.
